This project delivered the staged expansion and refurbishment of the Joondalup Health Campus kitchen, maintaining uninterrupted catering operations within a live hospital environment.
Works commenced with carefully sequenced demolition, temporary separation of work zones, and early services investigations to confirm existing conditions. Live service cut ins and planned shutdowns were coordinated with Ramsay FM to tie into essential mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and trade waste systems while protecting clinical operations and maintaining strict infection control.
A key milestone was the placement of approximately 150 m2 of concrete, pumped through the main entrance of Joondalup Hospital using an 80 metre line pump during after hours windows. This operation was planned with defined access routes, spotters, protection measures and timed deliveries, and was completed with zero incidents and zero access complaints.
The upgraded kitchen areas were then completed through progressive fit out, commissioning and handover, including hospital grade finishes, new equipment interfaces and final testing of services. The project required daily stakeholder coordination, disciplined logistics and robust safety controls to deliver a compliant outcome with minimal disruption to staff, patients and visitors.
