A regional accommodation project delivered through modular construction and local collaboration.
Having completed multiple regional accommodation and refurbishment projects, Trigon Projects were engaged by Juniper under an Early Contractor Involvement process which progressed into a full Design and Construct delivery contract for the Fitzroy Crossing Staff Village. The scope comprised four Multiple Person Quarters and three Single Person Quarters to support Juniper’s on-site workforce.
An objective of the project was to provide high-quality staff housing that enables Juniper’s aged-care workforce to live and work locally, ensuring Elders can remain on Country and continue receiving care and support within their community. A strong focus was also placed on local participation, with approximately 80 percent of the trades engaged on the project being Kimberley-based and Aboriginal owned businesses.
Trigon Projects led the design development phase, engaging consultants and coordinating documentation to respond to local climatic conditions, flood risk requirements, and cultural context. We were also engaged to fully commission the buildings in a cost-effective manner that would create warm and inviting spaces.
The modular units were constructed in our Neerabup construction yard to maintain quality control and efficiency, before being transported over 2,500 kilometres to Fitzroy Crossing for installation. Each unit was designed and built to create a space that staff could treat like home. Currently, the large majority of the staff team live in workers accommodation with shared cooking, laundry and rest areas. With the construction of this new village, each staff member will have their own kitchen, living and dining area as well as their own laundry facilities.
As part of the site works, we completed flood mitigation drainage, civil earthworks, fencing, a communal BBQ and recreation area, and a staff carpark. The project was delivered under challenging regional logistics while ensuring safety, quality, community benefit, and cultural outcomes were upheld throughout delivery.
